As expected, the Central Bank does not change the policy rate. As late as March, I was expecting the Bank to unwillingly raise rates in June and July; right now, it is crystal clear that won't happen... Incidentally, CBT President Yilmaz was pointing at global risks recently, but it is those very risks that have eased the CBT's pressure...


Turkey, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan have signed a free trade agreement. You might wonder what that is about, but the article does not give any details. But because of Turkey's Customs Union commitments with the EU, I don't expect this to amount to much...
